PWINSIDER Q&A: SABU POINTING, WWE SIGNING THE OTHER COLON BROTHER, PYRO, BARBED WIRE & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2006-11-14 09:00:00

Do you guys think that it's helping or hurting SmackDown! when they have their champion, King Booker, in a regular title match against Batista, instead of focusing him on the three way feud between himself, John Cena, and Big Show? He did win the 'Champion of Champions' match, but he doesn't have his "own team" to compete against Big Show's and Cena's team.

No, I think it's actually a smart move as it differentiates Smackdown a little bit and continues the storyline of Batista's chase for the WWE World championship. Smackdown's recent run of episodes has been severely underrated from both a creative and in-ring standpoint in my opinion.

Shawn Michaels' pyro was originally located in the ring but it is now on the entrance ramp. All I'd like to know (if you know the answer) is what was the reasoning behind the change? Was it 'for a change' or just a practicality? The same goes with The Big Show. I remember when he had similar pyro that 'went off' in the ring. I miss the 'ring' pyro because it was just a little different from the rest. Now the only person with 'ring' pyro is Kane. It's just a little thing, and maybe it's just me; but what are your thoughts?

It's likely just a slight production change made to freshen up the Big Show's entrance for ECW. In the case of Michaels, he's gone back and forth with the pyro location over the years, so I wouldn't look too much into it.

What are the chances that Carlito's brother Eddie Colon gets signed and joins his brother in WWE?

There's been some inkling of interest in Eddie Colon of late, but I haven't heard of any attempts to sign the younger Colon brother, who regularly headlines for the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and appeared briefly for Major League Wrestling in 2002.

On the Friday Night Smackdown, before the Royal Rumble when Animal was saying he's won everything but the Rumble, he said he's won scaffold matches, cage matches, exploding barbed wire matches...... My question is when did the Road Warriors, or if it was just Animal, do an exploding barbed wire match?

Animal has never worked an exploding barbed wire match, although he did do barbed wire matches for Jim Crockett Promotions, including the first Clash of the Champions, where the Road Warriors and Dusty Rhodes defeated Ivan Koloff and the Powers of Pain.

Who is Sabu pointing to when he does his trademark gesture? I figured it was to his uncle (R.I.P. the Sheik), but he did it long before his untimely passing.

It's partially a tribute to the Original Sheik, but when he began performing, the storyline reason for Sabu pointing was that he was savage that was amazed by the lights above the ring.
