PWINSIDER Q&A: RON KILLINGS, BATISTA ON SMALLVILLE, TAZZ & COLE TALKIN SMACK, SAPOLSKY & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2006-11-12 10:09:00

I was watching Smallville Thursday and on the preview for the next week's show I saw this ninja type character that laid the smackdown on Batista. What is the name of this character? Thanks!

I haven't seen the episode yet, since it airs this coming week, but my guess is that it was the Oliver Queen/Green Arrow character.

How did Gabe Sapolsky break into the business? I know he's the booker for ROH, and I'm just wondering who else is a part of the creative process down there.

Sapolsky broke into the business writing programs for ECW, which later graduated him into working on other areas, including ticket sales and filming house shows when he worked for RF Video. He also worked as something of an assistant for Paul Heyman. When RF Video opened Ring of Honor, he was tapped as the booker. When Cary Silkin bought ROH from founder Rob Feinstein, Sapolsky stayed on. Sapolsky is the main creative driver for the company, although all of the top level names have a say in their matches and there are some talent (Bryan Danielson for example) who are given carte blanche to do whatever they want because they have a level of trust.

Is Ron Killings still trying to leave TNA?

My guess would be no, since Vince Russo, who is a big Killings fan, is now one of the main creative forces in the company.

What happened to the CWA? I visited the unitingchampions.com website and it was gone. Did they go belly up already?

It appears that like so many other independent companies, they either shut down or are taking a break. Running an independent group is a huge financial drain unless you have the proper business plan in place.

Whatever happened to the short lived WWE online show with Michael Cole and Tazz called "Talkin' Smack"

I believe there was something of a creative dispute over the direction show would be taken in. Michael Cole then received his promotion to oversee WWE.com, Tazz was sent to ECW, and the project died. Or perhaps it's just on, cough, hiatus like Byte This!
