I am and always have been a wrestling fan, but to be honest, I rarely watch the WWE anymore because creative is so bad. I usually just come here and read results, and find out what is going on. Do you think there are more fans like me that are so turned off by WWE lately that all they do is read your site to find out what is going on and barely watch the product anymore?
Do I think there are more fans like you? No, I know there are. I've received email from quite a few fans who just don't even bother watching WWE anymore, and instead get their "wrestling fix" from this website. While I am very appreciative of the support, I don't think it bodes well for the business when diehard fans aren't even bothering to watch the product put out by the industry leader.
Who dropped the ball with Raven the most? I recently viewed the Unforgiven 1999 PPV and the match of Tazz vs. Lawler in which Raven interfered in...He got a good reaction from the crowd, but soon after he started teaming with Tazz..In your opinion who dropped the ball? WWE, WCW or Raven?
Honestly, I think WWE, by far, missed the boat with Raven. While there were certainly times that WCW didn't do right by him (which is why he ended up leaving the company), they gave him a lot more opportunities to cut promos and expand on the Raven character. WWE never gave him the TV time to really get the Raven character over, although he did have a good run of Hardcore matches. Obviously, Raven's best work was where the character was created, which was ECW.
Now with Britney Spears divorcing Kevin (K-Fed) Federline, is the WWE still going to use him against John Cena, or are they just going to drop him completely?
From what I understand, nothing has changed (yet) in WWE's plans for Kevin Federline. Personally, I think WWE should squeeze every drop of publicity they can out of him, and then (if it lasts long enough), have John Cena drop him on his head on New Year's Day and get a big (cheap) pop out of all the Britney fans.
So with ECW doing cross promotions, PPV's doing cross promotions, even regular TV broadcasts doing it, and now with Survivor Series doing it for their team matches, do you think WWE realizes the brand extension doesn't work and is actually kind of admitting it without saying it?
I don't know if WWE realizes the extension isn't working (and certainly, they will never admit it) but I think the cross promotions is an admission (without saying it) of something else. It is WWE Creative sending the message that they can't get people excited about their characters and storylines, so they have to push the button on "inter-brand" matches in order to get people interested in the product.
In a recent Q&A you mentioned that the day Eddie Guerrero died, he was supposed to turn heel and win the World Heavyweight Championship. But as I remember it, he died on a Sunday. Was he supposed to win the championship at a house show? Was it a supershow? I might be wrong, but I think that how I remember it.
It was a special Sunday Supershow taping on November 13th in Minneapolis, Minnesota as WWE was about to embark on a European tour. Due to Batista being injured, it was expected that Eddie Guerrero was going to win the World Title in what was originally scheduled to be a three-way match with Batista and Randy Orton that night.
