I believe Jim Cornette implied that Hall and Nash were kind of duplicitous in their dealings with Vince McMahon in terms of signing new contracts with him. What's the real story? Was Vince going to try and re-sign them, was he willing to re-sign them at a lower salary than they had previously or did he have no interest in re-signing them? I always found it odd that he would let them walk, given that they had fairly popular runs in the WWF.
At the time, business in WWE was really bad. Nash's run as champion did not draw well at the box office so he there was definitely an issue of his value when it came time to re-sign him. Hall was an IC Title level guy at the time and while he was over, again they weren't drawing huge houses with those guys on top.
Meanwhile, WCW was just becoming a player under the watch of Eric Bischoff, now that he was able to spend serious money, and the two men found themselves in a position to make a lot more to jump there. I don't remember all of the specifics but in the end, it was a business move, for both sides. I don't know what they said or didn't say to Vince, but it's not like he's a saint to deal with either (just ask Bret Hart) when contracts are on the line. While I feel both men owed him because he gave them a break, it's not like he does things altruistically. He does it to make money for his company. So, I think they made the move that was right for them and I don't blame them for doing it one bit.
What's happened to The Highlanders? Has their push ended?
The Highlanders are the latest WWE act to get a big build up before they came up to the main roster in WWE, only to be quickly pushed down to the middle to bottom of the cards once they got there. It sure does appear that their push has ended. Nothing really happened to them other than WWE creative just did what they often do when new acts come in and they stopped pushing them. Don't ask me to make sense of it. A person could go insane for much less than trying to explain the logic of WWE creative.
Since Torrie Wilson renamed Rikishi's move the Tush Push for Chloe's version, shouldn't her own version have it's own name? I suggest the Pink Face. You know, because she likes to wear pink in the ring -- And for no other reason.
Uh, fine by me. That is all I will say on this one!
Do you no when or where Scott Steiner has been in the last couple of months? I hope he goes to ECW he would be perfect there.
Yes, he is back home in Georgia. He has basically left TNA due to a disagreement as to what he is worth financially to the company. After his run there, he left WWE with a really bad taste in his mouth given how they used him so I don't see him coming back there any time soon. I certainly see almost no chance of him working on the third brand if he did decide to go back (and they decided to make him a good offer). Unless you get a good guaranteed deal from WWE, there just isn't much money to make in ECW right now due to their lack of PPVs and house shows.
So I just got tickets to the TNA House Show coming to East Hartford, CT and bought in for the pre-show meet 'n' greet. My question is simple and, most likely stupid, but would it be insulting to ask one of guys to put me in a hold or whip me against the ropes? Have no real reason for it outside of being an irredeemable fan boy geek.
I guess it would depend on how the session was going. If they offered to put a move on you, then it would be OK (unless of course you were so obnoxious that they wanted to do it just to have a little fun and make you feel a little pain). If you just asked out of the blue, well I have to be honest, I would mock you for being a real geek. I would also probably laugh at how bad you looked when you couldn't run the ropes. Don't give the fans a bad name. Fight the urge to make a fool of yourself.
