PWINSIDER Q&A: NO HOLDS BARRED, TAJIRI, WWE DOING A PPV IN THE UK AND MORE

What's Tajiri up to these days and have TNA tried to get him on board? He seems like a perfect fit for the X Division.

Tajiri is pursuing his writing career in magazines and newspapers and occasionally wrestling in Japan.  If he wanted to work full-time in the U.S., he'd probably go back to WWE, as they were very happy with his work and would welcome him back to the company.

Will the WWE ever do a major PPV in the U.K.? (i.e Wrestlemania or Summerslam) As mostly all the arenas on the last tour were sold out, wouldn't it be sensible to stage a PPV at the Millenium Stadium or at Wembley Stadium when it opens in 2007. This would bring in major income for WWE and much needed publicity over here too?

WWE has no plans at this point, but I could see it happening someday.  The main problems, from what I understand, is that WWE doesn't like the idea of doing a taped PPV, which would have to be the case for North America due to the time difference.  The other concern is that, Iin the past, there were also concerns about the expense of mounting such a production outside of North America, but since they are taping Raw broadcasts in the UK, I can't see it costing much more for a PPV.

Long time subscriber here with a quick question. When Hogan and Vince made No Holds Barred, how much was the production costs? I heard it was only 2 million dollars, and the movie ended up making 14 million, which would have to be considered a huge success. Just wondering if this is true because I seem to remember hearing it was a big money loser at the time.

I don't know what the production budget was, but given that the movie pulled in $16,093,651 in 1989 dollars, it certainly did better than See No Evil, which grossed $15,000,000 in 2006 dollars.  No Holds Barred certainly wasn't a critical success, but it wasn't a financial disaster by any means.  It was just another vehicle for Hulk Hogan and WWF to make a few bucks.

This is more of an opinion question, so here goes. This isn't a will this happen but a what if it happened question. Let's say Vince could get Austin Vs. Hogan at Wrestlemania 23 with The Rock as the ref. Do you think with all three of them being involved in the match and at Mania could be a big enough draw. Considering Rock has history with Hogan and Austin, it could help create intrigue.

Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania with the Rock involved as referee would be a huge draw, no doubt about it.  And if it actually happens, I'll order you a pizza during the PPV and have a WWE Diva deliver it to your house.

Can you tell me exactly when Gary Michael Cappetta was a ring announcer for WWE? I have been a fan for an awful long time, I'm assuming either my memory is bad or I was too young at the time to know or care about ring announcers by name.

Gary Michael Cappetta started ring announcing for WWF in the mid-70's, and worked for the company all the way into the mid-80's.  Remember that during WWF's boom period they ran a lot of shows, so it is possibly you rarely saw Cappetta, and instead saw Mel Phillips or Howard Finkel ring announcing.
