PWINSIDER Q&A: BOOKER T'S RETIREMENT, KURT ANGLE IN MMA, CYBER SUNDAY VOTING- RIGGED OR LEGITIMATE? & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2006-10-24 11:00:00

Do you think Kurt Angle talking about signing on to do a MMA real or just to throw people off that he was talking to TNA? With his bad neck, doing real fighting sounds suicidal.

To hear Angle speak, you would think he's still going to do MMA competition at some point, which sounds insane, but then again, we are talking about someone who won an Olympic gold medal with a broken neck. He hardly knows or cares about boundaries and that's one of the things that may end up always being his detriments. Angle used the MMA idea to mask his signing with TNA, but at the same time, time will tell if we ever see him in a shoot situation.

Now that his 1 year contract is almost up do you think Sting will sign again with TNA?

I believe they are already in discussions about signing Sting for another year. Obviously, they think he's going to stay around, or they wouldn't have put the NWA title on him.

Is the Cyber Sunday voting rigged? Or does WWE actually do what the fans vote for?

The voting is not rigged, but WWE will try to sway the fan voting by promoting certain things on their television with the idea of making the fans want to see it, such as Kane getting revenge on Umaga for forcing him off Raw, etc. You have to remember that you are allowed to vote as often as you wish, so this is not a strictly scientific deal, as much as they wat to accumulate as many votes as possible so they can decree a huge total number of votes with the idea of this surge of interest in the matches.

How long should Rey Mysterio be sidelined for? Which brand will he wrestle for once he returns?

The early word out is that Mysterio will miss upwards of six months while he recovers and rehabilitates the knee. That said, most wrestlers usually push themselves harder physically to come back (partially because of fear of losing their spots and with that spot, the bigger paychecks, although Rey should be safe in that aspect), so it may be sooner. Unless they create a storyline to bring him back to Smackdown against Chavo Guerrero, my guess is we'll be seeing Rey on Raw, a brand he's never been a full-time part of.

About a year ago, Booker T said that he intended to finish out his two-year contract and then retire. What is the current status of his contract and is that still his plan?

Like most wrestlers, Booker has changed his mind, partially because he has been able to hold up physically and partially because he's getting pushed in a top position, which means more money to hole away for his future retirement.
