Now that WWE has started ECW, will each show now have a PPV every two months so they will have more time to keep the good storylines going longer instead of cutting them off after a month.
That is a great thought but no way it happens. One of WWE's primary revenue sources is PPV and there is no way they are going to do less of them and give up millions of dollars. In fact, they would love to do more of them, if anything.
Do you think that instead of adding more PPVs, that WWE should give back to the fans, and have Clash of the Champions type events for ECW? They could still add a few PPVs each year, but having a PPV type event every month or two on cable, while building to a PPV every four months would make ECW a little more special. Besides, WWE already costs an arm and a leg for PPVs at $40 a pop, which has caused me to not buy as many as I used to, and wait for DVDs to come out the next month if the show was any good.
As I mentioned above, PPV is important to WWE's bottom line. I don't see them giving away PPV quality shows that they could earn revenue from. I don't see them doing monthly PPVs for ECW any time soon either at this time. I could see them doing specials on Sci Fi, but not heavily hyped, PPV-like shows. Raw is one thing, because it brings in over a half million dollars a week to WWE. ECW's TV deal is not even close to that ballpark.
Do you think TNA would be better served to ignore WWE and concentrate on their own product rather than taking shots and talking bad about the WWE (whether implied or directly) during their television programs? For instance, wouldn't it have been better for TNA to have Kurt Angle talking up how he was looking forward to his time in TNA and talking up and putting over the TNA wrestlers rather than sitting back and telling us how badly WWE and Vince McMahon treated him?
Yes, I do think that. I have never thought that it made sense to spend your time talking about your competitor on your TV. We all know WWE is number one but ragging on them makes no sense. Why remind your fans that there is a bigger product out there? TNA's fans already care about TNA and Vince McMahon isn't going to come in and work a program with Angle so it's not like you are building to anything either. I think it makes more sense to focus on what you do best and push your product off of that. TNA is obviously taking a page from the WCW playbook of ten years ago but they are not in the position that WCW was relative to WWE so they would be better served to push the good things that they do as opposed to picking a fight that will never happen.
Okay, I'm kind of pissed at you guys. About a week ago I sent you a question asking if you thought Kurt Angle was just "working" his emotional distress to get out of WWE cause I thought for sure that he was. Well, the conference call comes up and it turns out I was right. I called it! Why didn't you address my question (I am an elite member)? And I demand you you give me the credit I deserve.
I didn't address your question because I didn't get it to answer. We have quite a backlog of queries here due to the sheer volume of the questions that are submitted. Had I gotten it, I would have said that your assertion wasn't the case then and I 100% don't believe it's the case now. Angle's problems were very real and him saying now it was all part of a master plan just doesn't ring true to me. In addition to that, his statements have often been contradictory since it happened. I would love to give you credit for calling a winner here but I don't for one second believe that Angle was working anything on his way out the door in WWE. I think his press conference was just revisionist history.
I just read a couple of recaps of Kurt Angle interviews, and to me he sounds like a bitter man. I usually don't care about wrestlers 'behind the scenes," yet the things he said caused me to wonder what your thoughts are. I mean, he during one of his interviews he contradicted himself (about the amount of say he had in relation to HHH) and in both interviews, it appeared like he was straight up lying (being held back, being a slave, painkillers, etc.) Do you think that he is just saying this to put TNA and himself over, or do you think he actually believes what he is saying? Do you think Vince McMahon should put him in that special club reserved for Lex Luger, Nailz, Shane Douglas, and Jeff Jarrett?
I agree with you. A lot of what he has said since he signed with TNA just does not add up to me, plus he has obviously contradicted himself a few times already. As I said on the No Name Show last week, and above, I think that there is a lot of revisionist history going on here.
