I've heard a lot of good things about ROH, but have never actually been able to watch their stuff. Is it ever on TV or a webcast or some other form of media where I won't have to shell out money? Not that I'm cheap, but I just want to get a feel for it before I go buying DVDs or PPVs.
Ring Of Honor is not on television in the U.S., but if you go to ROHWrestling.com, they have regular video updates online showing highlights and clips from shows. Also, they regularly have specials where you can get DVDs at a pretty low price, so I suggest taking the plunge on a lineup that appeals to you. If you're a big fan of in-ring action, I think you'll enjoy ROH, and in all honesty, I think the ROH vs. CZW interpromotional feud was one of the better rivalries of the year.
This is probably the stupidest question in the world. Has there ever been a suggestion of Brooke Hogan, Hulk Hogan's daughter, of taking part in a wrestling match, alongside her dad?
Are you kidding? We get much dumber questions on a regular basis! Anyway, yes, there has been a suggestion of her getting into wrestling, and even Hulk himself has suggested it. Luckily, it has never gotten tot he "serious consideration" phase at this time.
I have always heard of small wrestling promotions being contacted for the purpose of appearing at various high schools, state fairs and auditoriums for the purpose of raising money for local charities. To your knowledge, has the WWE ever done that? Agreed to send some of their wrestlers to various small towns to raise funds for local charitable organizations?
While I don't believe they have done it recently, it was a pretty common practice in the 1980's (when WWF would have three crews on the road), for WWF to run charity shows. Usually, the charity would have to cover certain expenses for the show, and the profits would go to their cause. Also, WWE has (and continues to this day) to send superstars on various charity appearances, particularly work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Was there ever an idea of the WWE producing a RAW tribute magazine featuring the career of Trish Stratus? It would feature posters and photos, from her first appearance on Raw, to her final match when she won the women's title from Lita at Unforgiven in her hometown of Toronto, ON Canada.
If there was, obviously WWE didn't go through with it. Such a magazine would have been a good idea too. I think WWE could have gotten a lot more out of Trish's retirement than they did.
What do you think the chances are of the WWE doing the sensible thing and ending the brand extension? Smackdown isn't even worth watching as a show and they expect me every other month to spend my hard earned money on a Smackdown ppv, that's a slap in the face, and I figured seeing as they have re-introduced ECW and ended the Raw and Smackdown magazines to be replaced by one WWE magazine, I thought they might actually do the right thing for a change, what do you think?
I think you should give Smackdown a chance, as the show does feature a lot of quality wrestlers in good matches, even if it is lacking in the storyline department. Getting to your question, there is no chance of the brand extension ending. If anything, the addition of ECW just gives WWE the opportunity to add even more PPV events to the schedule and try to get more of your (and mine, and everyone else's) hard earned money. The combining of the magazines was done because the magazines were not profitable (like many periodicals in the Internet age), not because WWE is losing faith in the brand extension.
