PWINSIDER Q&A: BROOKE HOGAN, JOEL GERTNER, FUTURE WWE DVD RELEASES AND MORE

Was JBL vs. Triple H supposed to happen at Summerslam 2005? I ask this because I noticed a lot of events happening in the summer of '05. First, HHH and JBL had a confrontation at Wrestlemania 21. Second, I know that Randy Orton was supposed to help Muhammad Hassan beat Undertaker at Great American Bash, setting up Hassan/Batista and Undertaker/Orton at Summerslam. Third, the controversy about Hassan's "terrorists" caused plans to be scrapped quickly. Forth, HHH was out for the Summer of 2005 after losing the Hell in a Cell match to Batista. So it leads me to believe that the JBL/Batista feud was originally supposed to conclude at the Great American Bash, and HHH was supposed to face JBL at Summerslam. Am I correct or am I looking into this too much?

You're looking into it way too much, although I give you credit for putting more thought into it than WWE Creative probably did.  There was never any talk of having Triple H vs. JBL at Summerslam.  You have to remember that WWE has often had "interbrand confrontations" at the big PPV events that never lead anywhere.

I did not have access to ECW during their heyday but did get to see some of the latter years. I have just watched The Blood Sport DVD and have a question. I saw Joel Gertner around the ring during Dudley Boys matches. What was his tie in with them? And also, Why at one point was he wearing what appeared to be a facial cast/mask/bandage of some sort?

After a brief run as Shane Douglas' personal ring announcer, Gertner joined up with the Dudleys to do their entrances.  Gertner really thrived during this time, and his introductions sometimes lasted ten minutes, and were a great part of the classic Dudleys entrance.   As for the bandages, that was after an angle where Balls Mahoney blew a fireball at him.

Do you think WWE will ever make DVD sets about old NWA territories like Georgia Championship Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida, or Jim Crockett Promotions?

I think these kinds of releases are dependent on the success of the upcoming AWA set.  If the sales are good, I could see WWE doing more releases centering on different territories of the past.  If it bombs, then I wouldn't expect to see future ones (except perhaps World Class or WCW).  If nothing else, at least matches from these areas will be included on the "personality" releases, which have been big successes for WWE Home Video.

How come if WWE films are making movies they haven't done one with Hogan? Isn't he more crossover than say Austin, Kane? Hogan in Kane's place in See No Evil would have been amazing!

I hope you're joking.  Hulk Hogan's last few Hollywood ventures bombed at the box office.  Granted, with the success of his reality show, he is probably more popular than he was when "Mr. Nanny" came out, but I still don't see anyone jumping to cast him as the lead in a film.

Exactly how tall is Brooke Hogan? She looks like a giant, in heels she's almost as tall as Hulk.

I've seen her height listed as 5' 10". 5'11" and six feet.  So, whichever you choose to believe, she's tall.
