PWINSIDER Q & A: WHY RIC FLAIR WRESTLES, CM PUNK, JIM ROSS DVD, JEFF HARDY AS A MAIN EVENTER AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2006-09-18 10:00:00

This is more of an opinion thing then a question. I was wondering, do you think there is any chance that somewhere down the road we might see a DVD about Jim Ross? If they were to do a bio piece, with interviews from some of the talent he's worked with and then include some of his favorite matches that he's called I think it would be pretty good and would probably sell pretty well too.

I think it should happen.  Ross has been a major player in the business, been everywhere and done everything.  To long time fans, the classic footage along that they could put on the DVDs of matches he has called would make it a must buy.  I hope we get to see the DVD.

Based on his 1st month back Jeff is obviously seen by Vince and those that matter as a better choice for a push as a singles star then his brother. Assuming his stays clean and motivated could he get pushed into the main event scene or is the IC/US title the limit for him as a singles wrestler??

WWE certainly needs top talents.  If Jeff can continue to work the way that he has, I don't see any reason why he can't get a top run at some time against a heel champion.  I am not saying he will win the title, but I could see him in a title program if everything works out the right way.

Considering that CM Punk's opponents have their right arm free in the Anaconda lock, why don't they just punch him in the face until he lets go? Or just poke him in the eyes, for that matter?

You could ask that about a number of moves, really.  Look at the Pedigree.  No one would realistically be in that position but you have to suspend your disbelief when watching wrestling.  The premise here is that the vise hurts and the worker is in "such pain" that he can't think clearly.  Given how cool the move is, I have no problem believing that the guy in it would "think that way".  It's not like he's submitting to the Von Erich Claw or the Atomic Noogie!

In my opinion, Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler of my generation, and perhaps of all time, and has always given his all to the business. I have seen him live at house shows on countless occasions, and every match he was in, he gave 110 %. People have asked why he still wrestles, and it has been made clear that he needs the money. My question is why hasn't he been given a role other than wrestler, like a manager to give new talent a rub, or an announcer, or something not so physically taxing for someone his age, and something befitting a man who has done so much for the business?

The reason is simple, money.  Top wrestlers make a lot more money than managers or announcers.  If Flair wants to make the money that he needs to make to sustain his obligations to his ex-wife, his family, the IRS and his current wife, he needs to wrestle.

Does CM Punk really embrace a "straight edge" life style?

Yes, he does.  His gimmick is based off of who he really is in real life.
