PWINSIDER Q&A: ANGLE GOING TO ANOTHER COMPANY, CENA VS. ORTON, FANS BOOING VICKI GUERRERO & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2006-09-03 09:00:00

Do you think, that WWE is saving a "dream match" between two young own creations, Randy Orton and John Cena, for a future WrestleMania? Now, with Cena on his way to Friday Night SmackDown!, it seems, that the two guys will not touch each other for another few months.

I believe that if Cena ends up going to Smackdown after Unforgiven, the logical thing to do would be to have him begin his quest back to Raw for a title match at Wrestlemania. Orton vs. Cena could be a potential program down the line, but Orton is going to need a lot of work after the Hulk Hogan match and his booking in general before fans buy him as the top-level performer they used to see him as after his Mick Foley feud a few years back.

From what I can discern, Kurt Angle didn't want to leave the WWE, and while I understand that he does have a great deal of physical (and possibly emotional) trauma, he doesn't seem to want to leave, so what do you think is the probability we can see Angle showing up in TNA or some other promotion?

If Angle wanted to work anywhere else at this point, I doubt any company would turn him down as they realize the boost they would get. The negative to it would be that Angle would bring with him all the problems that led to WWE releasing him. The best thing that could happen to Angle would be for him to get his head clear and his body healthy, then decide what's best for his family after that point.

In a recent interview recap on your site Nikolai Volkoff talks about coming to America and doing the Russian Commie gimmick, I seem to remember him doing a Mongolian gimmick for a long time before the Russian gimmick wrestling stars like Chief Jay Strongbow, and Andre The Giant. Is my memory right or am I thinking of someone else?

Nope, Volkoff absolutely played one of the Mongols in the WWWF before settling into the Nikolai Volkoff persona.

I know why WWE can not use the WWF scratched logo when they show footage from the Attitude era. My question is why is it OK for them to use the "classic'' WWF logo from the 80's to mid 90's when they show footage from that era?

Unlike the scratch logo, they were never legally ordered that they couldn't use the logos from that era.

On the 9/1/06 edition of Smackdown, Vicki Guerrero was met with boos and "You Suck" chants. I was wondering if you could shed some light on this. Why would the fans in the audience who know that wrestling is a work boo her. Why would "marks" boo her from the storyline perspective. Do they not realize that Mysterio is not Guerrero blood and really has been milking Eddie's name by dedicating every match to Eddie, pointing to the sky every 2 seconds, and even going up the turnbuckle to do the Frog Splash. I realize that Smackdown add heat to crowd reactions. Regardless of that, how could any smart fan or mark boo Vicky when she lost her husband?

I don't think fans are booing Vicki as much as they are booing the entire storyline.
