COMPLETE WWN MERCURY RISING 2016 REPORT: THE SIX MAN TAG TRADITION CONTINUES, THREE TITLES DEFENDED, HERO VERSUS SABRE, HONORING TERRY FUNK, AND MORE

Welcome to PWInsider.com’s coverage of Mercury Rising 2016 from Eddie Dean’s Ranch in Dallas, Texas. This show is part of WWN’s “More than Mania” weekend featuring shows from Evolve, SHIMMER, CZW, Kaiju Big Battel, and the WWN Supershow. Mercury Rising 2016.

Lenny Leonard and Rob Naylor are in the ring to welcome everyone to Mercury Rising.  Lenny mentions that the FIP, Shine, and Evolve championships will be on the line.  Rob mentions the tradtional six man tag match that will take place later tonight.

Zack Sabre Jr. makes his way to the ring.

Zack tells everyone to stop because he is blushing.  Zack says that there was a Europe versus United States challenge and it was 2-2 and Chris Hero did not want to fight then so let's do it now.

Match Number One:  Best In The World Challenge Series – The Rival:  Zack Sabre Jr. versus Chris Hero

Chris comes to the ring in a Steph Curry Golden State Warriors shirt and he forearm bumps the people in the front row.  Chris makes sure to tell Joanna Rose to call him the Greatest of All Time in her ring introduction.

Hero goes to the floor once the bell rings and he gets the crowd riled up.  Hero backs away from Sabre until he is backed into the corner and then Hero goes to the floor.  

They start wtih a Greco Roman knuckle lock and Hero backs Sabre into the corner and Hero pie faces Sabre.  They lock up again and Hero backs Sabre against the ropes and then they continue around the ring until Sabre gives a clean break.  Hero tries for a bicycle kick but Sabre blocks and hits a series of European uppercuts.  Hero stargers around the ring and Hero sends Sabre to the apron.  Hero goes through the ropes to go after Sabre and Sabre with a European uppercut and more uppercuts to Hero on the floor.  Hero with a punch to Sabre.  Sabre with an Octopus on the floor and he works on the wrist and fingers in ways that are not normal.  

Hero has a kick blocked and Sabre takes Hero down and twists the ankle and stands on the ankle while turning the hand in unnatural positions.  Sabre stomps on the hand but Hero with an elbow and kick.  Lenny points out that while working on the arm, he is not working on the dominant arm of Hero.  Hero has Sabre by the wrist as he wants to please the crowd.  Hero takes Sabre to the mat and he puts his weight on Sabre while working on the wrist.  Sabre tries to clasp his hands but Hero knocks the hand away.  Hero puts the hand on the mat and tries to stomp the elbow but Sabre blocks it and he takes Hero to the mat and works on the leg and he tries to have the bottom of Hero's foot meet his forehead.

Hero with a slap to Sabre followed by a snap mare.  Hero goes for a back senton but Sabre moves and counters into a cross arm breaker.  Hero gets tot he ropes.  Hero has Sabre tied up in the ropes and Hero with a rolling elbow that sends Sabre to the floor.  The referee starts his count while Sabre is down on the floor and Hero goes to the apron and then goes to pick up Sabre.  Hero walks Sabre around the ringside area and connects with an elbow.  Hero plays up the crowd and then he counts along with the referee.  Hero gets back into the ring to stop he count.  The referee resumes his count with Sabre still on the floor.

Sabre rolls back into the ring and Hero offers Sabre a shot and Sabre obliges with a European uppercut, but Hero with a slap and Sabre goes down again.  Sabre is given another shot and he punches Hero but Sabre with a knee to the head followed by a back senton for a near fall.  Hero with a kick and back senton.  Hero talks to the referee as Sabre strugles to get up.  Sabre gets up and goes after the wrist and Sabre goes to the apron and stomps on the elbow while the hand is on the apron.  Hero with an elbow and Irish whip that sends Sabre into the guardrail.

Hero sends Sabre back into the ring and he talks to the referee as he re-enters the rin.  Hero kicks Sabre in the face.  Hero with another kick to the head and Sabre goes down to the mat again.  Sabre with forearms to Hero and Hero has a kick blocked but Hero with an enzuigiri and kip up.  Sabre with a series of running European uppercuts into the corner..  Sabre with a waist lock and Hero holds the ropes but Sabre kicks the hand.  Hero with a punch to Sabre but Sabre with a tornado DDT followed by a running kick for a near fall.  Sabre stomps on the elbow again.  Sabre wraps Hero's arm in the ropes and applies a hammer lock and stump puller in the ropes.  The referee warns Sabre.

Sabre puts the arm in the guardrail and Sabre kicks the arm.  Sabre does it a second time.  Sabre puts Hero's arm in a steel chair and he stomps on the arm.  Hero misses a chair shot.  Hero is put in the chair and Sabre kicks Hero a few times.Hero kicks Sabre and sends him into the guardrails.  Hero goes back into the ring to stop the count.  Sabre gets back onto the apron and Hero with a kick to the head and a slap.  Hero with another kick and Sabre wants more.  Hero with a bicycle kick and Sabre stays on the apron and he wants more.  Sabre slaps Hero and Hero with a series of elbows.  Sabre blocks a kick and gets a near fall with a rollup and bridge.  Hero with a running elbow into the corner.

Hero punches Sabre on the turnbuckles.  Hero with a cravate into a cravate driver for a near fall.  Hero with a chop to the back followed by a suplex attempt but he takes too long and Sabre with a guillotine into a kimura and Sabre head butts the shoulder.  Hero with a package suplex throw for a near fall.  Hero tells the people to stop the 'both these guys' chants and only to cheer for him.  Hero with a bicycle kick and he misses the rolling elbow and Sabre tries for the cross arm breaker and he has it locked in but Hero gets to the ropes as Sabre turns it into the Fujiwara arm bar.

Sabre kicks Hero in the shoulder and he wants Sabre to kick him in the face.  Sabre continues with the kicks to the shoulder and Hero blocks a kick.  Hero with a knee to stop slaps by Sabre.  Hero goes for the ripcord elbow but Sabre counters with a back slide for a near fall.  Hero with a pile driver but Sabre kicks out at two.  Sabre wtih a forearm but Hero fires back and sends Sabre to the mat.  Sabre shows Hero that he thinks he is number one and Hero connects with more elbows.  Hero challenges Sabre to throw elbows as good as him.  Sabre slaps Hero and Hero tries for a Saito suplex and Sabre with elbows.  Hero with a forearm to the back of the head.  Hero with a Saito suplex and Sabre with a kick.  Hero with a rolling elbow and both men are down.

Hero sets for a pile driver but Sabre drops down to block the suplex.  Hero tries to get Sabre up.  Hero goes for the Gotch Style Pile Driver and Sabre counters into a Kimura and then he gets Hero on the mat and has a hammer lock and a stump puller into a bridge but he can only get a two count.  Sabre with a kick to the leg and Sabre with another bridge for a near fall.  Sabre comes off the turnbuckles and is met with a kick.  Hero hits Cyclone Kill and Sabre is down but Hero cannot capitalize right away.  The elbow pad comes off and Hero sets for the elbow to the back of the head and connects.  Hero with another elbow to the back of the head.  Hero with a rolling elbow to the back of the head and Hero gets the three count.

Winner:  Chris Hero

After the match, Chris Hero gets on the mic.  He asks who was here earlier for that two-two s***.   Hero says he has another show to go to so he will cut this short.  You hear it time and time and time and time again.  Best in the World is played out.  He is the "Greatest of All Time" Chris Hero.

Match Number Two:  Respect Is Earned:  Drew Gulak (with Matt Riddle, Tracy Williams, and TJ Perkins) versus Fred Yehi

Yehi with a waist lock and take down into a front face lock.  Yehi with a waist lock take down and he gets a near fall with a rollup.  Gulak gets to the ropes and Yehi is forced to release the hold.  Gulak with a wrist lock and a head lock.  Gulak with a side head lock.  Yehi with a wrist lock into a side head lock take down.  Gulak with a head scissors and Yehi escapes.  Gulak with a side head lock but Yehi with a head butt to hte midsection.  Yehi works on the ankle with a stump puller.  Gulak gets to the ropes and Yehi stomps on the midsection.  Gulak runs Yehi into the turnbuckles.  Gulak with a chop and gutwrench suplex onto Yehi's arm.  

Gulak with a seated abdominal stretch and he rolls up Yehi for a near fall.  Gulak works on the legs and he also stretches Yehi.  Gulak with a chin lock and pulls Yehi back to the mat.  Gulak with elbows to the back of the head.  Yehi punches the knee and then he punches Gulak.  Gulak with chops but then Yehi blocks a chop and stomps on the foot.  Yehi kicks Gulak in the back of the knee. Yehi with a suplex and he gets a near fall.  Gulak with punches and Yehi punches back.  Yehi with a running boot to the head and he gets a near fall.  Yehi goes for a Dragon Sleeper but Gulak counters.  Yehi with a reverse suplex for a near fall.  Yehi with a Koji Clutch.

Gulak with an ankle lock and Yehi tries to get to the ropes or escape but Gulak holds on.  Yehi kicks Gulak in the knee and head to get out of the hold.  Gulak with a back fist and he gets a near fall.  Gulak with a kick to Yehi.  Yehi blocks a kick and Yehi with a belly-to-back suplex.  Yehi has trouble walking on one foot and Yehi with a German suplex.  Yehi with a front face lock into a suplex.  Yehi gets a near fall.  Gulak with a head butt but Yehi with an arm wringer that sends Gulak to the mat and he stomps on the hand.  Yehi with a waist lock and snap mare but Gulak with a waist lock into a Dragon Sleeper and Yehi taps out.

Winner:  Drew Gulak

After the match, Drew gets on the mic and he tells Fred that Catch Point is about seizing the opportunity.  You have great potential to do great things with them.  Gulak offers his hand to Yehi and Riddle has a t-shirt ready for him.

Yehi shakes Drew's hand and he is given the Catch Point t-shirt.  Matt, TJ, and Tracy shake his hand. 

Drew says when you go to the WWN Live Experience, he uttered the words Catch Point and they just came out of his mouth.  Now, everybody in professional wrestling is using the term catch point.  It is more than a word.  It is a stable.  It is a philosophy.  It unites them and creates a bond.  The industry is put on notice.  This is the future and it is all about competition.

Tracy takes the mic and he says competition.  Tracy says he is looking at some competition and he tells Matt Riddle he is ready to fight now.

Match Number Three:  The Third Chapter:  Matt Riddle versus Tracy Williams

They shake hands and then they lock up.  Riddle with a waist lock take down and he tries for a cross arm breaker but Williams gets to the ropes.  Williams with a take down and he goes for an elbow drop to the lower back and he puts Riddle in a modified bow and arrow. Williams with a side head lock and shoudler tackle.  Williams with a side head lock and take down.  Williams works on the ankle. but Riddle makes it to the ropes.  Riddle goes for the legs and he connects with knees to the midsection.  Williams sends Riddle to the floor.  Williams goes up top and hits a cross body onto Riddle.

Williams sends Riddle back into the ring but Riddle with a springboard knee to the head.  Riddle slides to the floor and slaps Williams in the face.  Riddle sends Williams back into the ring.  Riddle with a delayed dead lift German suplex.  Riddle with a kick to the back and a kick to the chest.  Williams with a chop.  Riddle with a slap.  They go back and forth with Williams chopping Riddle and connects with a European upprecut.  Riddle with a kick but Williams with a rolling elbow.  Williams with a forearm off the turnbucklesand he gets a near fall. Williams kicks Riddle in the chest.  Riddle and Williams exchange strikes to the head.  Riddle with a kick but Williams with chops and a running drop kick against the ropes.  Williams with a drop kick to the knees followed by a missile drop kick and Williams gets a near fall.

Williams with a kick to the back. Williams with an Octopus to Riddle.  Williams with a side Russian leg sweep into an Octagon Special.  Riddle gets his foot on the rope to force Williams to release the hold.  Williams with kicks to the chest followed by a clothesline for a near fall.  Riddle with punches to the midsection and then he goes to the head.  Riddle with a kick but he misses a punch.  Williams with a back breaker and a back drop for a near fall.  Riddle with punches but Williams with a forearm.  Williams comes off the turnbuckles but Riddle with a knee and Riddle with a fisherman's buster for a near fall.

Riddle goes to the turnbuckles and he hits a knee to the side of the head.  Williams with a clothesline and he gets a near fall.  Williams with a forearm to the side of the head.  Williams tries for a pile driver but Riddle counters with a wheelbarrow driver and the Bromission.  Williams with kicks to the head to get out of the hold.  Williams wraps Riddle in the ropes and Williams with chops.  Williams with a drop kick while Riddle is still in the ropes.  Williams with a second drop kick and Riddle gets freed from the ropes.  Riddle counters Williams into a cross arm breaker in the ropes.  

Riddle goes up top and Williams with a running drop kick to the side of the head.  Williams with a super DDT for a near fall.  Williams with a face lock and Riddle taps out.

Winner:  Tracy Williams
