I actually watched the debut of FOX's Anchorwoman (based on the rating, I was in the minority), starring former WWE Diva (for several weeks) Lauren Jones and thought it was really funny for what it was. I don't know who exactly was "in on the joke" but the reactions of some of the other anchors really cracked me up. Jones made several references to being with WWE, which I suspect is likely where all those WWE references in advance reviews came from - critics seeing the advance screener of the pilot assumed she was indeed a WWE star, because that's what you would have thought if you didn't know any better. Jones mentions before her debut anchor broadcast that she feels the same nervous feeling as her first time before a WWE audience, like she had to go the bathroom but not really. In another scene, she says she's trying leave the WWE stuff in the past and in a third scene, a local recognizes her from Smackdown, which is a dead giveaway this show is a work because I don't think even Buck Woodward, who reviews Smackdown, would realize Jones was part of WWE if he walked past her in the street today. Still, I thought the pilot was a pretty funny show. For those who are wondering, yeah, I think the show is a complete work, but what reality show isn't?
I know this isn't technically professional wrestling news, but for those of you who are old school American Gladiators fans, it was announced today in Variety that the series will be resurrected by NBC. Former WWE star Rico Constantino actually did quite well on Gladiators way before he became a pro wrestler. Years ago, I actually attended the Gladiators tour when it came to Nassau Coliseum and it was actually pretty damn entertaining live. The new version of the show will be adapted from a currently running UK version, will run at least six episodes and feature a reality show like deal following the challengers through their real lives as well as their preparation for the competition, in order to add a new dimension of drama. Now the important question: I wonder if Zap will come out of retirement?
Smackdown will be preempted tomorrow in the following markets:

John Williams sent the following....I was just watching a show called "Rich Bride, Poor Bride" here in Canada the Slice Channel and The Iron Sheik made a brief appearance. The show will be on a few times throughout the week so Canadian fans of The Iron Sheik (and wedding shows) should check it out.
