TNA MEETS WITH FORMER WWAS PROMOTER REGARDING AUSTRALIA EVENTS, UPDATES ON RICKY BANDERAS, SCOTT STEINER, ELIX SKIPPER AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-07-13 00:46:00

TNA issued a mobile alert to its subscribers on Thursday, announcing that former World Wrestling All-Stars promoter Andrew McManus met with TNA officials to discuss the possibility of promoting TNA events in Australia. McManus, a well known international music promoter, formed the WWA in early 2002 with a tour of Australia utilizing WCW and ECW names that hadn't been picked up by WWE after those companies folded a year prior including Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Sting, Lex Luger, and Sabu. The company did extremely well on its early tours of Europe and Australia before WWE came into the markets and captured the audience for itself. WWA ran five PPV events, including a forgettable live show in Las Vegas, with its final event being held in May 2003, where Jeff Jarrett defeating Sting to unify the NWA and WWA championships.

As mentioned during last night's vignette on TNA Impact building to his debut, former WSX champion Ricky Bandera's character name for TNA will be Judas Mesias.

Samoa Joe was in attendance at the ESPY Awards ceremony in California. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was there as well, but not word yet as to whether their paths crossed.
For those of you who are traveling and hope to hit a TNA taping while in Orlando, the current scheduled Impact tapings at Universal Studios are 7/16, 7/30, 8/13, 8/27, 9/10 and 9/24, all Monday evening tapings..

There's talk of putting the XXX tag team of Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper back together. Didn't they lose a "team must split up together" stipulation?

Petey Williams vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Senshi will air as part of the Victory Road preview show on SpikeTV this Saturday at midnight. The stipulation for the bout is that the winner will move onto the Ultimate X match at Victory Road.

Scott Steiner is booked for the 8/26 All Japan Pro Wrestling event.

BG James is slated to appear for WWE star King Booker's PWA on 8/21 in Pasadena, Texas.

Big Vision Entertainment is planning to release a "Before They Were Stars" DVD on Samoa Joe, using pre-TNA footage that (I am assuming) will be made up of Full Impact Pro and Ring of Honor footage from before Joe signed a TNA deal in 2005.

If you get the chance, check out the TNA Today video for 7/11, which features a pretty funny cliffhanger where Don West (literally) gets called to the principal's office for "making the TNA Deal of the Day" so cheap. It may come off as campy and goofy to some, but for some reason, West and Jeremy Borash do such a silly job hamming it all up, I can't help but to laugh.
