FULL ECW ON SCIFI REPORT

By Buck Woodward on 2007-02-13 23:08:00

ECW on SciFi opened with a recap of Bobby Lashley successfully defending the title against Hardcore Holly last week, followed by the ambush of Lashley by Snitsky.

Signs in the crowd: "ECW RIP 1994-2001" and "This Is Not Extreme"

ECW Champion Bobby Lashley vs. Hardcore Holly - Extreme Rules

They started trading punches at the bell, with Lashley getting the better of it and Holly bailing out to the floor.  They brawled on the outside, with Holly ramming Lashley head first into the announcers table.  Lashley came right back, ramming Holly head first into the apron and then giving him a belly to belly suplex on the floor.  Lashley pulled out a table, and Holly tried to stop him from setting it up, but Lashley slammed him on the floor.  Lashley set up the table, but Holly clotheslined him.  Holly then folded up the table and put it back under the ring.  "You suck" chant from the fans, as the announcers speculated on Holly putting the table away in an Extreme Rules match.  Styles brought up the time Holly had his back sliced up by a table.

Lashley clotheslined Holly over the security wall, and they eventually brawled back into the ring.  Inside, Holly went for a leapfrog, but Lashley caught it and set up for a powerslam, but Holly grabbed the top rope, pulled himself to the apron and yanked Lashley back first across the top rope.  Holly, from the floor, then pulled Lashley groin first into the ringpost and we went to commercial.

Back from break, Holly had a chair set up in the ring.  We saw that during the commercial Holly had dropped Lashley stomach first across it.  Holly hoisted Lashley and dropped him sternum first on the chair.  Holly kicked the chair into Lashley's face and scored a two count. Holly then applied a chinlock.  Lashley fought out of it, but Holly clipped him with an elbow.  Holly wedged the chair in a corner.  Lashley went to to throw Lashley into it, but Lashley reversed it and sent Holly head first into the chair.  Lashley then threw Holly with a belly to belly suplex.

Sign in the crowd: "HOLY ISHT"

Lashley hit a clothesline and a shoulderblock in the corner, then gave Holly a delayed vertical suplex.  Lashley put Holly in a Torture Rack, then dropped down to his knees.  Lashley covered Holly for a two count.  Lashley pointed to ringside, then went and pulled the table back out.  Lashley set it up at ringside, but Holly gave him a baseball slide kick.  Holly tossed Lashley into the ring, and got his chair again.  Holly went for an Alabama Slam on the chair, but Lashley sunset flipped out of it.  Rather than go for the pin, Lashley shoved Holly through the flip, then picked him up and powerslammed him on the chair for the pin at the thirteen minute mark.

Winner: Bobby Lashley.

Comments: Way better than last week's disaster, although Holly had me worried when he grabbed the chinlock.  The crowd was really into Lashley's offense at the end, and popped for the win.  Shockingly, the table was never used (and that's not a bad thing).

The announced that we would have New Breed vs. ECW Original tag matches later tonight.

They showed clips of Donald Trump and Vince McMahon in the ring together, with Trump challenging McMahon to a match at Wrestlemania.  For Vince's answer, tune in to Raw.... or go read the spoilers here on the site.

A Snitsky video was shown.

Extreme Expose was in the ring, dancing to a song by 50 Cent.  Once again, they weren't in sync on the parts they were supposed to be.  They took off their tops and skirts, so they were dressed the way most WWE Divas are usually.  They were interrupted (I know, shocking) by Kevin Thorn's music and they left.

Kevin Thorn & Marcus Cor Von, with Ariel, vs. The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer.

Sign in the crowd: "Monty Brown"

We saw how Balls Mahoney was beaten up by Umaga and Marcus Cor Von last week as Cor Von was making his entrance.  Sandman and Dreamer entered through the crowd.  Fans were into Sandman's entrance.  They started brawling right away, with Cor Von fighting Sandman on the floor and Dreamer fighting Thorn in the ring.  Cor Von threw Sandman into the security wall and the ring steps.  Dreamer was bouncing off the ropes in the ring, but Cor Von ran in and gave Dreamer the Pounce, knocking him to the floor.  A replay showed Dreamer catch his ear and the side of his head on the bottom rope after the pounce.

It settled into a tag match, with Cor Von working over Dreamer in the ring with forearms and a head vice.  Dreamer ducked a clothesline and hit a neckbreaker.  Dreamer crawled for a tag, but Thorn was tagged in first and cut him off.  Thorn ran into a Dreamer boot and Tommy tossed him into the turnbuckles.  Sandman got the hot tag and laid out Cor Von and Thorn with punches.  Sandman gave Thorn a FrankenSander off the middle rope. Cor Von went for Sandman's cane, and the referee went to stop him.  Sandman grabbed it and gave Cor Von the White Russian Legsweep.  As the referee got the cane out of the ring, Kevin Thorn hit Sandman was his walking stick.  Thorn pinned Sandman, although Tazz noted Sandman's shoulder was clearly off the mat, ending the match in three minutes.

Winners: Kevin Thorn & Marcus Cor Von.

Comments: Score one for the New Breed.  Sandman was given some offense before the loss, so it wasn't a squash at all.  It was just a really short match.  I'm just shocked WWE had the match end at 10:31, and that they went to commercial at 10:32, with Wrestling Society X starting now.

A short video on CM Punk was shown, followed by a graphic that he would be up next.

Backstage, Smackdown General Manager Theodore R. Long complimented Bobby Lashley on his win earlier.  Lashley said he owed Long a lot, but Long said Lashley did it all on his own.  Long invited Lashley to appear on Smackdown this week, and Lashley accepted.  Insert your own joke about how Lashley won't have to travel far to appear on the show.

CM Punk vs. Mike Knox.

Knox' entrance video still has Kelly Kelly all over it.  There was a big CM Punk chant as the bell rang.  Knox backed Punk in the corner, but Punk out punched him.  Punk went for a headscissors, but Knox drove him face first to the mat and hit a legdrop for a two count.  Knox applied a cravate, then an abdominal stretch, but Punk got a leg free and drove a knee into Knox' face.  Knox came back with a beautiful dropkick.  Punk came back with an enzugiri.  Knox missed a boot to the face, and Punk hit a series of slaps and a kick to the head.  Punk hit the jumping knee in the corner, then a bulldog.  Punk went for a springboard, but Knox ducked it.  Punk landed on his feet, tried a clothesline, but Punk ducked it and grabbed a uranage.  Punk slapped on the Anaconda Vice for the submission win at the three minute mark.

Winner: CM Punk.

Snistky ran in and attacked Punk from behind, ramming him into a corner and laying him out with a boot to the face.

Comments: I'm sure there will be tons of people upset over Snitsky laying out Punk, but forgetting about that for a moment, Punk and Knox had a shockingly good match for a bout that was only three minutes long.  Knox' dropkick was great, and Punk was given a chance to show what he can do again.  Now, as for the post match activity, it was a painful reminder that in WWE, being "big" is the more important than being popular or talented.

The Seattle Sonics were shown at ringside.

Part Two of the Bobby Lashley video history was shown.  Lashley smells his workout shirt before going to the ring to remind him of all the training he does.  Seriously.  The package then focused on his training including his impressive vertical leap.

Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Elijah Burke & Matt Striker.

As Van Dam and Sabu came out, it was noted how RVD was screwed last week in his match against Elijah Burke.

Back from break, Striker and Burke were out and the bell rang.  Sabu tripped Striker, but Striker came back with a straight right hand.  Sabu went for a springboard DDT, Striker blocked it, but Sabu kicked his legs and DDT'd him anyway.  Sabu hit a slingshot legdrop for a two count.  Striker crawled to his corner and tagged Burke.  Sabu tagged Van Dam.  Big RVD chant.  Van Dam and Burke locked up, with Burke grabbing a side headlock.  Burke used the hair to maintain the hold.  Burke hit a shoulderblock, but Van Dam hit a monkey flip, and armdrag and  a spinkick, then posed for the fans.  Burke came back with some punches and a bodyslam.  Striker tagged in and missed an elbowdrop.  Van Dam hit a thrust kick and tagged in Sabu for a quadruple legdrop for two.

Striker ducked a charging Sabu and Burke clothesline him from the apron. Striker slammed Sabu and tagged in Burke.  They hit Sabu with a clothsline/double knee to the chest combo in the corner.  Burke put Sabu in a chinlock.  There was a Sabu chant.  Sabu started to fight up, so Burke yanked him to the mat and tagged in Striker, who stomped Sabu.  Striker hit a running forearm in the corner, then a running boot to the face for a two count. Burke tagged in and dropped an elbow, then put him in a chinlock again.  Sabu was bleeding from the mouth.  Sabu stretched away from Burke, and kick him in the face.

Sabu tagged RVD, who went to work on Burke.  Van Dam monkeyflipped Burke, then gave Striker a kick to the face. Van Dam knocked Striker from the ring and gave Burke a back heel kick.  Sabu and Rob Van Dam went for the original Rolling Thunder on Burke, but Striker pulled Sabu off the ring apron.  Van Dam dove out of the ring onto Striker.  Sabu got into the ring and went for a springboard onto Burke, but Burke kicked the ropes and Sabu fell.  I think the idea was that Sabu crashed onto Burke's knee after Burke kicked the ropes, but the landing didn't look good.  Burke covered Sabu and used the ropes for leverage (he really had to stretch to reach the ropes, which looked bad) and got the pin at the five minute mark while RVD was on the floor with Striker.

Winners: Elijah Burke & Matt Striker.

Kevin Thorn and Marcus Cor Von joined Burke and Striker in the aisle and stared down with Van Dam and Sabu in the ring.  Joey Styles noted that last week the ECW Originals were the ones left standing, but this week the New Breed had the upper hand.  That ended the show.

Comments: The match wasn't anything special, and was probably the weakest of the four bouts on the show.  The crowd was really into Rob Van Dam and Sabu though.  Actually, this was a really good crowd tonight, as they made the show enjoyable.  I'd still like to know who thinks having the New Breed win EVERY match (last week and this week) is the way to keep this feud interesting.  Still, this was a lot better show than last week's, in my opinion.
