JIM ROSS COMMENTS ON THE UPSIDE TO HHH'S INJURY, FANS BEING TOO HARD ON MICHAEL COLE, BROCK, HALL OF FAME & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-01-10 16:00:00

Jim Ross posted his latest blog on his official website www.JRsBarBQ.com today. As usual, it's well worth checking out and here are some of the highlights:

Triple H's injury: "The only consolation is that this quadraceps injury isn’t quite as serious as the last quad injury HHH suffered. Don’t get me wrong, this is a serious injury but not a career threatening one as I understand it, especially knowing HHH’s work ethic and how hard he will rehab to get back to ring worthy condition. Nonetheless, when quality depth is in such short supply, losing an athlete like HHH is a challenging blow to the flagship show of the WWE. It will be interesting to see who steps up and makes this horrible situation into an opportunity to run with the ball, so to speak."

I would agree with Ross on this one. WWE needs to have someone step up and rise to the occasion and hopefully, there will be a talent that can do it. It's often fashionable to tear down HHH, but there's no denying his work ethic and his importance to the company in front of the camera.

Michael Cole referring to the One Man Gang as being no longer with us: "Some fans abuse Michael Cole too much and let’s remember Cole wasn’t doing this voice over process alone."

I am on the fence with this one. That's a really horrible mistake to make and while some can point out that Cole doesn't come from a wrestling background, he's been working for the top wrestling company for years now. As the head of WWE.com, he should be able to have a staff of researchers on hand to have correct information ready for him.

Jim Ross wrote that to the best of his knowledge, no one is slated yet for the 2007 WWE Hall of Fame and commented, "I expect/assume the list of inductees to be finalized by the end of January or early February. The ceremony is slated for the Fox Theatre in Detroit the night before Wrestlemania 23. Lots of wrestlers and personalities are deserving but I hope the list is kept to 7-8 inductions. Also, and this is a delicate subject, the WWE doesn’t need to induct too many deceased wrestlers, simply in my opinion, as it has the potential to bring the night down somewhat. That’s only my two cents."

For those of you who are Elite subscribers, I'm going to be discussing the Hall of Fame tomorrow, particularly my own personal pick for the next Celebrity inductee.

Brock Lesnar: "....it takes TWO to tango. I don’t know if Brock would even entertain coming back to the WWE as I thought the two parties were close at one time but the deal fell through for reasons I am unaware. Again, if the field was totally level and everyone was on the same page, Lesnar could help the WWE as he is a gifted and talented wrestler. However, if Brock’s heart wasn’t into the commitment and he was only wrestling for the cash, this would be a partnership doomed from the beginning."

Ross also commented on a slew of other topics, including Steve Austin's return to WWE, Bobby Heenan, wrestlers "copying from each other", Chris Masters, returning to Kemper Arena, and much more. As I noted, it's well worth your time to check out one of the highlights of the Internet in Ross' blog.
