WRESTLING SOCIETY X NOTES & NEWS: FIRST EPISODE LISTING, PRODUCERS FINISHING WORK, HOW MUSICAL ACTS FIT INTO WSX, WSXTRA & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2007-01-05 14:45:00

The first season of Wrestling Society X will debut Tuesday 1/30 at 10:30 PM on MTV. The first episode will feature Jack Evans vs. Matt Sydal, a musical performance by Black Label Society performance, and an Over the Top Rope Elimination/Ladder Bout with 2 WSX contracts for a WSX championship bout suspended above the ring featuring Vampiro, Six Pac (Sean Waltman), Teddy Hart, New Jack, Youth Suicide, Kaos, Puma, Al Katrazz, Justin Credible, and Chris Hamrick.

Producers Big Vision Entertainment are currently working on post-production for the series, particularly voiceovers and editing a series trailer designed to tease viewers' interest. The footage that MTV aired on New Year's Eve was said to have been derived from the original pilot taping (which doubles as the premiere episode mentioned above).

Each episode of WSX will open with a musical performance, after which the musical stars that week will sit in for guest commentary for certain matches.

Beyond the weekly WSX series that will debut on 1/30, there will be a second series that will air on the Internet titled WSXtra, hosted by Lacey and Fabian Kailen (who emcees/ring announces the WSX series). WSXtra will feature more matches, vignettes, interviews, and a preview for the next MTV episode. The plan for the Internet series is to help further and develop storylines as well as provide a forum for matches, some of which which feature talent that may not receive the same attention on the MTV series. There's been talk that some cable companies with Video on Demand capabilities may also air the WSXtra show on their MTV sections, but that isn't confirmed.

Wrestling Society X is currently in the process of preparing their official website to launch as well in the near future. The site will be contained as a subsite on MTV.com

PWInsider.com will have much more on the pending debut of WSX this Monday, including comments from producer Kevin Kleinrock on a number of topics pertaining to the development and execution of the series, MTV's involvement, and future plans for Wrestling Society X.
