RESULTS FROM ECW IN BATTLE CREEK, MI

By Scott R. on 2006-11-07 21:54:00

Hey guys I attended the delayed version of wwECW’s show in Battle Creek, Michigan last night (RVD’s hometown). The crowd was could not have been more than 1,000.

The opening bout featured Brad Armstrong vs. some wrestler portrayed as a ghetto southerner who came out to some very weird music and flicked off the music people more than a few times. Brad Armstrong won with a roll up.

Rodney Mack vs Stevie Richards
Nice to see Stevie still wrestling, he was pretty happy to see a BWO shirt in the crowd. Equal offense, Rodney with the win.

Next up featured a “tag team match” featuring Paul Heyman’s thugs (Bashams) vs FBI. Heyman got on the mic and did his usual 'win over the crowd then rip on them' bit. I still cheered, still love the mad scientist. Anyways he announced the main event would be RVD vs. himself in an extreme rules match. He also announced that the Basham’s would not be fighting and that the FBI would instead be fighting against each other. This was a fantastic match, which featured Little Guido coming out on top.

Out next came Balls VS Kevin Thorn without Ariel. This was a simple match with Kevin Thorn using his cane behind the refs back for the win.

Up next Rene Dupree came out and announced it was time for the Extreme bikini contest with Rebecca vs Trinity. There was no winner here, they just striped down and kicked Rene where the sun doesn’t shine…

Intermission

Following intermission this brought CM Punk VS. Mike Knox w/o Kelly. Another simple match CM Punk victorious with the Anaconda Vice.

After this was the match of the night with Sabu and The Sandman taking on Test and Matt Striker. Sandman came through the crowd, Sabu came through with the lights off. They battled back and forth for a while with Sandman and Sabu victorious with Sandman hitting Striker with the kendo stick behind the refs face. Sandman then left through the crowd.

Main event:
This is where things got a little interesting. Paul and crew came out, followed by RVD to a huge hometown pop. Paul got on the mic and did his usual thing. Telling someone in the first row he didn’t suck because “his mother taught him how.” Most surprising comment of the night Paul on the Mic: “How can you cheer RVD, he smokes marijuana.” RVD started laughing, looked caught way off guard and put his head into the turnbuckle. Then they went back and forth on the mic and finally starting wrestling. It was the two Bashams vs RVD for a while then eventually RVD beat both of them up and got to Heyman. Sabu came out and put Heyman on the table with RVD giving him the 5 star.

Overall much better 2nd half to the show however this will be the last wwECW event I will ever attend. Its just not the same and I’m not giving WWE anymore of my money. No show on Tommy Dreamer and Beulah, I was really looking forward to giving them props for being so loyal. We waited afterward and Sandman came out, looking pissed, to sign autographs. He would count down '5,4,3,2,1, done' for pics, much angrier than The Sandman about 6 years ago when ECW was in Battle Creek last. We saw Paul E. coming out to his car and I yelled at him “We miss your ECW, Vince’s doesn’t even come close” He said thanks and got in his car with CM Punk and drove off.
