OMEGA RETURNS, KHAN CUT OFF AND MORE: AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

It’s Wednesday!!!!  Welcome one and all to pwinsider.com’s coverage of AEW Dynamite.  Tony Schiavone, Taz and Excalibur have the call of the action tonight. Tony Khan welcomes us from Jacksonville to tell us that he’s promoting the show remotely. The screen goes blank as the Young Bucks say they’ve lost connection. The Bucks tell us they can’t be fired because of iron clad contracts. The Bucks tell us that they are in charge tonight. We are in Winnepeg tonight.  

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland comes out.  We find out tonight who his challenger will be at Double or Nothing. He says that AEW deserves better than power hungry EVP’s. He invites his DON challenger to the ring. The Bucks appear on the big screen. They fine Swerve for his recent language.  They present Christian Cage as his challenger. Cage comes out with Nick Wayne, Killswitch and Nick Wayne’s unusually attractive mother. Cage punches Swerve. Swerve fires back. Killswitch with a headbutt and Cage hits the Killswitch move on the title belt. Nana eats a cutter from Nick Wayne. Cage is here to remind Swerve that he is not forgiven or forgotten the time he bloodied Nick Wayne in his own home. Cage vows to make Swerve a mere footnote in AEW history. Cage makes fun of Winnepeg. Killswitch tears some hair out of the head of Swerve.

We see video on Adam Copeland and the House of Black.

TNT Championship: Adam Copeland vs. Buddy Matthews

Lockup, headlock by Matthews. Shoulderblock. Both are at a stalemate. Headlock by Matthews, another shoulderblock. Side headlock takeover by Copeland, headscissors by Buddy. Shoulderblock by Copeland for 1. Go behind by Matthews, reversed by Copeland. Flying headscissors by Matthews. Cope;and sends Matthews to the floor and hits a tope as we go to commercial.

We are back and Copeland hits a DDT from the floor. Both men are down. Kicks by Matthews.  Reverse chinlock by Matthews. Kick by Matthews. Face drop by Copeland. Back elbow by Matthews. They slug it out on the top rope. Both men fall to the floor. They barely beat the 10 count. They trade elbows. Double cross body, both men are down.  The medical staff comes in and we go to commercial.

Things seem medically Ok as we return. Chops by Copeland. Punches in the corner by Copeland. Liger Bomb by Matthews for 2. Copeland sweeps Matthews’ feet on the top rope. Forearms by Copeland. Copelsnd blocks a powerbomb. Impaler by Copeland for 2. Kneestrike by Copeland. Matthews with a crossface. Copeland with a rollup and suplex for 2. Copeland misses the spear. GTS by Matthews. He misses a stomp and eats a spear. Copeland scores the pin

WINNER AND STILL TNT CHAMPION ADAM COPELAND

Copeland attacks Matthews and grabs a pair of chairs. He sets up a conchairto. Lights out. Malakai Black is in the ring. Lights out again. Black and Matthews are gone when the lights come back on. 

Samoa Joe vs. Isaiah Kassidy

The former AEW Champion is laying it in hard to Zay.  Zay with a kick but can’t execute a monkey flip. Muscle buster and Joe scores the pin.

WINNER SAMOA JOE

Skye Blue is in the back with words of warning to TBS Champion Willow Nighingale. They’ll meet on Rampage later.

Here comes Orange Cassidy. He has words for Trent. He’s upset that Trent and Chuck didn't get things out of their system last week. Chuck may never wrestle again. Trent interrupts. Cassidy charges but security holds him back. 

And here comes Don Callis. He whispers into Cassidy’s ear and walks off with him. 

Renee Paquette is with the Young Bucks. They bring out Jack Perry, who says he only wants what’s best for AEW.

FTW Championship: Chris Jericho vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Arm drag by Jericho, he plays to the crowd. Lockup. Go behind by Jericho. Armdrag and headlock by Shibata. Chops by Jericho. Shibata responds in kind. Jericho to the floor, he’s looking for weapons. He grabs a trash can lid and smashed Shibata with it. Jericho introduces a bag full of hockey pucks.  Shibata with a suplex on the pucks.

Speaking of hockey the mightily Providence Bruins trail the Hartford Wolfpack 4-2 in the 3rd period.

Shibata and Jericho trade chops. We go to commercial. As we return Shibata chops away. Jericho throws a puck in the face and applies rhe sharpshooter.  Sorry, it’s the Walls. Reversal into a figure 4 by Shibata. Another puck to the face by Jericho. Here comes a trash can and a kendo stick. He places the can over Shibata’s head and whacks it with the stick. Shibata gets up with the can still on him. Can butt but Shibata into a flying dropkick into the can for 2. THey both have kendo sticks. They both sit and hit each other with the sticks. Back suplex by Shibata into the pucks. 

Here comes a table. It’s set up in the corner. Shibata with chops. Codebreaker by Jericho for 2. Choke by Shibata. Big chop by Shibata. Shibata adjusts the chair. Big Bill interferes and nails a high boot. Choke slam through the table by Bill. Jericho scores the pin.

WINNER AND STILL FTW CHAMPION CHRIS JERICHO

We see video of Mercedes Mone’ and Willow Nightingale.  Backstage, Renee’ is with the TBS Champion, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway, Willow accepts Skye Blue’s challenge. Renee gets a message from the Bucks banning Statlander and Hathaway from ringside later.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brian Cage

Double clothesline to start. They trade clotheslines. Suplex by Cage. Uppercuts by Claudio. Headscissor takedown by Cage. Claudio with a backbreaker. Rollup/dropkick by Cage. Back elbow by Cage. Scoop slam by Claudio. Double stomp by Claudio. Claudio with punches in the corner. Superplex by Cage as we go to commercial.

We are back. Superkick by Cage into a 619. Lariat for 2 by Cage. Uppercut by Claudio. Claudio works over Cage in the corner.  Uppercut and kick into a 619 by Claudio. Lariat for 2 by Claudio. Alabama Slam by Cage for 2 by Cage. Pop up uppercut for 2 by Claudio.  Giant swing by Claudio. Sharpshooter by Claudio and Cage taps.

WINNER CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI

Renee is with Rocky Romero. He doesn’t side with anyone in the Best Friends Civil War. He wants the International Title

Mariah May w/Toni Storm vs. Serena Deeb

Headlock takeover by Deeb, May escapes. Arm twist by Mariah, Deeb with the reversal. Paradise lock by Deeb. Dropkick by Deep. Snap mare and a surfboard by Deeb. May with an elbow strike and a rana. Dropkick by May as we go to commercial.

As we return, Deeb gets thrown into the buckle but kicks May. Neckbreaker by Deeb. Another neckbreaker by Deeb.  Elbow by Deeb. German by Deeb. Lariat by Deeb for 2. May escapes a May. Deeb with a single leg. Deeb smashes the knee and Storm throws in the towel.

Renee is with Adam Copeland, who says he is OK. Kyke O’Reilly offers backup if he needs it.

Kenny Omega comes out to a big intro from Justin Roberts. The crowd is happy to see him. He discusses his illness and reiterates his status as an EVP. Kazuchika Okada comes out. They square off. He challenges Okada to a match when he’s cleared. Jack Perry attacks Omega. Perry attacks security with a chair. Omega with a Snap Dragon to Perry. Okada trips Omega and Perry smashes him with a chair to the stomach. The Jacksons come out and nail an EVP Trigger. The Elite hug it out. FTR runs in to help.
